Peter P. Burns is a vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and director of its Payment Cards Center. Burns joined the Bank in November 2000 and has been responsible for structuring and developing the Center’s strategic agenda. Center staff and Bank colleagues work to develop insights and to communicate on issues related to the increasingly dynamic sector of consumer credit and payments.

From 1996-2000 he was managing director of the Financial Institutions Center at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and continues to serve on its advisory board of directors. Burns has an extensive background in the financial services industry, having held a number of senior management positions during a 25-year career with CoreStates Financial Corporation and its predecessor, the Philadelphia National Bank.

Burns received an A.B. degree from Lehigh University and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business.
